This article examines an 11th Circuit decision that dealt with the dual requirements of Florida statutory periodic payment rules as well as the Federal Tort Claims Act in a medical malpractice action on behalf of an injured child. According to the court’s own description, its solutions were ‘‘MacGyvered,’’ or cobbled together when precise tools were not available.
